Updating SelectWallpaper.co.uk

March 3, 2011

We’re currently in the process of updating SelectWallpaper.co.uk – full report coming soon.

New Designer Wallpaper Collections

October 28, 2009

Things have been a little hectic in the Select Wallpaper office lately – we’ve been so busy working on our website that we’ve been neglecting to update our blog, twitter and Squidoo accounts – shame on us! Thought it might be a nice idea to summarise everything that’s been happening lately before diving back into our regular blogging…

New Wallpaper Collections:

Now that we have another pair of hands adding wallpaper to our website we’re adding more new collections daily than ever before! As they don’t all make it onto our homepage presented below are those that weren’t given homepage featured status:

Galerie Peacock Alley

Art imitates nature in its simplicity and its complexity. Peacock Alley pays homage to both. Layers of texture enhance the art and bestow a sense of antiquity in this beautiful collection ordered specially from USA.

A wide range of colours means this floral collection of patterns offers something for everyone. The only reason we opted not to showcase this collection on our homepage was due to the fact we had showcased dozens of floral patterns over the previous weeks already.

Other designer wallpaper added recently include: Premier Essens, Ashford House Calypso by Galerie, East of Eden by Colemans, aswell as introducing numerous new brands to our website including the stunning “Euphoria”, “Reflections”, and “Woodland” collections by Prestigious Textiles, “Silver Leaf” and “Special Effects” by Ronald Redding and a brand new offering by Vivienne Westwood.

In Other News – Select Wallpaper on TV!

That’s right! Select Wallpaper will be mentioned for the first time ever on TV soon, hopefully within the next month. We were delighted to supply wallpaper for the home makeover program “60 Minute Makeover” and have already been provided with some wonderful photographs taken on the day. We’ve been asked not to release the photographs until the episode has aired so keep your eyes peeled on our Twitter account to be updated about when they’re released.

Red wallpaper winning the Squidoo battle!

We love creating lenses on Squidoo and enjoy seeing which of our pages proves to be the most popular with our readers. For a while our Anaglypta wallpaper lens was flying up the Squidoo rankings, however our red wallpaper lens has now stormed into the lead and is ranked rather amazingly at #146 in the Home and Garden section, out of something like 20,000 pages. Overall it is currently ranked #6,141 out of the half a million plus pages on the website – we’re so proud of ourselves!

Will post Part II of our update summary shortly, in the mean time please don’t forget to follow us on Twitter.

Another beautiful new collection by Colemans

September 9, 2009

A new collection that Linda has been busy adding today has really caught my eye, entitled Mocaccino by Coleman Brothers I’ve come across at least three patterns that I’d be delighted to hang in my living room at home (which could really do with a spot of decorating if I’m honest).

The collection blends a fine mixture of browns and creams that one would expect to see walking into any high street coffee chain such as Costa, Starbucks or Caffe Nero. With the occasional coloured floral pattern to match, ranging from purple shown above to blues and greens, this thick wallpaper has a luxurious texture to match.

Having been on somewhat of an ‘indie-kick’ lately, supporting the smaller hand printed independent wallpaper manufacturers, I’m also pleased to say that we haven’t forgotten about adding collections offered by the old boys. Rod has somehow managed to add three new collections this week, all of them from well known brand names: Harlequin, Graham & Brown, and Farrow & Ball.

Anaglypta Wallpaper Popular on Squidoo

August 25, 2009

A few weeks ago I blogged about how I was starting a new venture showcasing a selection of our available wallpaper patterns on Squidoo. Whilst slowly adding new pages I neglected to notice that the very first lens I created, a lens featuring Anaglypta wallpaper collections, was slowly climbing the charts. Imagine my surprise when I logged in this evening to see the page is now ranked at #259 out of literally thousands of other pages in the Home & Garden section.

I’ve painstakingly been building new lenses devoted to floral wallpaper, geometrical wallpaper as well as a whole array of colours, only to find that Anaglypta is still a timeless classic and as popular as ever it seems. Whether the other lenses will climb quite as high remains to be seen, I’m certainly pleased with the results Squidoo has already shown us in such a short space of time however and I’m continuing to add new lenses daily, as well as revisiting older lenses to freshen them up.

In other brief news the Order Received and Order Dispatched emails have been given a much needed face-lift, aswell as including other additional small details such as our Twitter URL [@SelectWallpaper].

On the techie-techie side of things I’m pleased to announce Select Wallpaper are currently in the process of switching delivery courier from Parcelforce to TNT. More about that at a later date.

A beautiful wallpaper (that we don’t stock)

August 20, 2009

Whilst it might not be in our best interests to go promoting other wallpaper companies, especially those whose wallpaper patterns we don’t stock, there are occasionally interior designers offering patterns that simply take our breath away. Such a designer appeared in my internet browser this evening, her name is Anna Hill.

Anna’s unique and contemporary patterns can be 100% customised according to her rather lovely website, changing everything from the colour, design, theme and motif, offering her clients a wonderfully unique wallpaper.

Anna was voted the MyDeco.com “One To Watch” Winner in 2008, and her work has been featured by Channel 4 – how she has slipped under our radar for so long I’ll never know.

Squidoo – A pleasure to browse.

squidoo

squidoo

Just a quick update to mention that I’ve been busy building ourselves quite the robust wallpaper lens-funnel at Squidoo; and having a fun time doing so thanks to their rather comical choice of phrasing scattered throughout the website. Squidoo is a friendly online service that allows anyone to create a webpage on anything they like. Stay-at-home mums seemingly love the service because it offers them an opporuntity to write webpages, referred to as “lenses”, on absolutely anything and earn a little extra money.

Take a look at our wallpaper lenses, built to showcase our wallpaper collections. All money generated through our Squidoo account will be donated to charity, something that Squidoo allows us to do directly through their website. We’ve also built 10 lenses related to wallpaper colours, however our profile is yet to update.

If you’re a Squidoo member please rate our lenses, or drop us a message if you would like us to check out your design related lens.

Select Wallpaper on Twitter

Six months ago whilst reading Smashing Magazine I finally caved and decided to open a Twitter account for us @SelectWallpaper. I’d always been of the opinion (and truth be told, still am of the opinion) that Twitter was created with individuals in mind, not businesses, and so our Twitter account sat dormant for over six months.

Regardless of the fact that I never advertised our Twitter URL (and only posted one update, instantly after signing up) emails continued to land in my inbox on a semi-regular basis informing me that someone else had decided to “follow me”, and so I have once again caved in to temptation and decided I need to update our Twitter regularly. We’ll see how it goes.

Whenever we add a new wallpaper collection to our website we’ll be posting a Tweet, so we welcome you to follow us if that sounds like something you may be interested in receiving (max of one Tweet per day). If you’d just like to chat about design thats cool too… we love finding new websites relating to interior design and home improvement, so feel free to tweet us your URLs. If we like your link it may end up being praised on this blog or added to our website. Brilliant!

I’ll tweet this blog post and then get back to scanning wallpaper. Currently finishing off Galerie Texstyle 2 collection which seems to have been abandoned half way through for some peculiar reason…. oops! Looking forward to hearing from you all
